The first divide came with the Warriors' identities being exposed, shattering the bonds of friendship and forcing them to fight each other to the death. Breaking the Fellowship: The core group has slowly fallen apart over time, in two equally-painful events.Break the Cutie: While not all of them are cuties, the Battle of Trost was this for everyone.Krista and Sasha are stand-outs, and Armin is a male version. Badass Adorable: It's a given, they're Child Soldiers after all.However miraculously the events of the penultimate chapter are subverted after Eren dies taking the Power of the Titans with him which not only brings the Titanized members back to life but turns the Shifters back into normal people allowing them to life out their lives without worrying about the Curse of Ymir. Jean and Connie are technically still alive, but now Titanized into the very mindless monsters they fought against. By the time of the penultimate chapter of the series, only five people from the 104th batch and the Top 10 survived with their humanity intact (Armin, Mikasa, Reiner, Annie, and Historia), and even then, Armin, Reiner, and Annie are fated to die within a decade. Anyone Can Die: Even they couldn't survive this trope as they are killed off one by one as the story progresses.During combat (though this arose due to the emergency situation at Trost), the cadets aid the Garrison in the defense of the city, being assigned to the vanguard, the middle guard or the rear guard, all three tasked with combating Titans until population evacuation protocols have been enacted and every living civilian has been safely removed from harm. In Trost District, they provide the bulk of the Quartermaster Corps at the city's Military Headquarters under the Garrison, providing logistic support and supplies to the combating units, and small units of cadets man the Wall anti-Titan canons. The Trainee Corps as a whole provide auxiliary services to the rest of the main branches, particularly the Garrison, up until they get to choose the branch of the military of their particular preference.
Before the fall, there used to be eight branches of the Trainee corps unless otherwise stated, the majority of individuals hereby listed come from the interior of Wall Rose or from the Trost District. Though they are a class of two hundred-plus cadets, the story focuses on the members of the Southern Branch, one of the four branches of the Trainee Corps, and the first batch to graduate after the fall of Wall Maria. The primary focus of the story, the 104th Trainee Corps (AKA The 104th) are a batch of military cadets experiencing their first battle immediately following their graduation.
